Your Complete Wedding Hair Timeline
Your wedding hair is one of those details that makes a huge difference on the day — and a little planning goes a long way. As Droitwich bridal stylists, we've helped countless brides across Worcestershire feel their absolute best walking down the aisle. Here's the timeline we recommend so nothing is left to the last minute.
12+ months before: book your stylist
Good bridal stylists get booked up fast, especially over spring and summer. As soon as your date and venue are confirmed, secure your hair stylist. At this stage you don't need to know your exact look — you're simply reserving the date. Get in touch about our wedding hair in Droitwich to check availability for your date.
6–9 months before: think about your hair goals
If you're planning any colour changes — softening to a lighter shade, adding balayage for dimension in your wedding photos, or growing out and refreshing your colour — now is the time to start. Big colour transformations often take a couple of appointments to do safely, so give yourself runway.
2–3 months before: start collecting inspiration
Save photos of styles you love (and any you definitely don't). Think about your dress neckline, your veil or accessories, and how you want to feel — relaxed and undone, or polished and classic. Bring these to your trial so we can build the perfect look together.
6–8 weeks before: your bridal trial
The trial is the most important appointment. We'll recreate your chosen style, adjust anything that isn't quite right, and make sure it holds beautifully. It's worth timing your trial for close to a hair appointment, or on a day you have plans afterwards, so you can see how it wears and feels in real life.
Tip: bring your veil, hair accessories and a photo of your dress to the trial. Seeing everything together makes a real difference — and means zero surprises on the morning.
2–3 weeks before: final cut & colour
Book your last cut and colour for around two to three weeks before the wedding. This gives fresh colour time to settle to its most natural, and means your ends look their best without being too freshly cut. Any earlier and you risk regrowth in the photos; any later and colour can look a little stark.
The morning of the wedding
On the day itself, allow plenty of time — never rush your hair. If you have a bridal party, we'll plan the running order so everyone is ready with time to spare. Have your accessories to hand, keep water and a light breakfast nearby, and enjoy it. This is the fun part.
Don't forget the bridal party
Bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, flower girls — we can style your whole party. Let us know your numbers at the trial so we can allocate enough time and, where needed, an extra pair of hands. Ask us about our bridal party packages.
Ready to start?
Every wedding is different, and we'll happily tailor this timeline to your date and plans. The most important step is the first one — securing your stylist. Get in touch to check your date and start the conversation.
